Layers of Story
Before we unveil the whole spectacle, this view hints at the clever sub-assemblies within. Notice the SNOT techniques that bring texture to the tower's faces and the integrated play features in each section. It’s a glimpse into the diverse building challenges and imaginative setups.
Grand City Reveal
Here it is, the LEGO Wicked Welcome to Emerald City (75684)! This substantial model, with 945 pieces, rises to 15.5 inches (39.4 cm) high, spans 14.5 inches (36.8 cm) wide, and delves 5 inches (12.7 cm) deep. The rich green and vibrant accents set the stage for an adventure in Oz.
Emerald Elegance
The architecture here is striking, especially the grand archways utilizing large bowed elements that frame the entrance. Greebling around the base and on the tower adds textural depth without clutter, showing thoughtful part application. I'm admiring the subtle use of trans-green elements that beautifully catch the light.
Play from All Sides
Turning the model around, we find the fully realized interior spaces, designed for active storytelling. Each floor of the tower and the lower sections offer distinct scenes, demonstrating excellent use of interior volume. The open back allows easy access for minifigure interaction and display.
Professor's Study NPU
Here, Fiyero and Madame Morrible are engrossed in a text, likely from the finely detailed bookshelf. I appreciate the NPU of the printed 1x1 tile as a QR code, a clever touch for adding texture and modern flair to a classical setting. The dark green tile accents on Madame Morrible's dress are superb printing.
Dynamic Display
Elphaba soars on her broom, her cape dramatically sculpted to suggest motion. The clear bar attachment for the broom allows for a dynamic 'in-flight' pose, giving the scene energy. The detail on her hat and dress, with its dark purple accents, is perfectly captured.
Service Tricycle
Fiyero's delivery tricycle is a charming sub-assembly, with elegant spoke wheels and a well-designed rear carrier. The trans-clear and trans-yellow bottles are an NPU for mysterious elixirs on the go. The top hat element on Fiyero’s head is a classic, tying into the character's aesthetic.
Character Lineup
Behold the full ensemble of characters: Madame Morrible, Fiyero, Elphaba, Glinda, and Boq. Each figure boasts unique printing and accessories that perfectly capture their essence. From Glinda's frosted crown to Elphaba's broom, the details ensure their distinct personalities shine.
Immerse in Oz
This wider view shows how the various sections, from the shops to the towering central structure, create a rich play landscape. The way the minifigures interact with the different areas illustrates the modularity and storytelling potential built into the design. It really invites exploration and imaginative play.
Detailed Interaction
Focusing in, we see how the smaller interior details come to life during play. The builder can easily position characters within the tower, exploring the intricacies of each level. It's a testament to the thoughtful layout, making every nook accessible and engaging.
