Two LED kits are now available for the LEGO Birthday Cake 40641, turning a cheerful display into a glowing centerpiece. The market for these kits ranges from $21.99 to $23.99, reflecting the cost of adding illumination to a $11.99 set. With one kit using modular expansion boards and the other relying on modular micro-LEDs, each offers a distinct wiring approach for a similar price.
First in line at $21.99, this kit spotlights the candle, the interior Happy Birthday tile, and the slide's chocolate trail. It uses modular expansion boards with standard gauge connectors, and while only one variant exists, the architecture allows for tidy, point-to-point linking. Ideal for builders who prefer a structured wiring backbone that feels like an extension of the LEGO system itself.
Second in the lineup at $23.99, this kit focuses on the same festive zones: candle, interior message, and slide. It relies on modular micro-LEDs with budget-friendly components, and the single standard edition keeps the offering straightforward. Best for fans who want a minimalist wiring footprint with flexible routing to match the cake's playful curves.
Lighting kits and display add-ons are custom third-party accessories produced independently. They are not manufactured, sponsored, or endorsed by the LEGO Group.
